Holy Week

Palm Sunday, March 28

  • 10am worship service @ samohi
  • 10am launch of new live-stream format online

On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem.

“…the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!’”   – John 12:12-13, ESV

Join us in the outdoor amphitheater as we welcome Jesus as King.

This will also be first day of our new live-stream digital format. For all who are unable to join in person, our Sunday services will now be streamed live online, beginning at 10am.

Maundy Thursday, April 1

  • 12noon devotional video available online

On Maundy Thursday we commemorate the moments in the Upper Room where Jesus initiates the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. He does so after washing the feet of his disciples and inviting them to live a life of love:

“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” – John 13:14-15, ESV

At noon on Maundy Thursday, and remaining there throughout the day, a devotional video will be available on our website.

Good Friday, April 2

  • monthly day of prayer and fasting*

We have a new custom of devoting the first Thursday of each month towards prayer and fasting. We will return to that rhythm in May, but for this month we invite our community to commit this Good Friday towards prayer and fasting.

  • 8am Prayer Gathering Online

Our shared experience will begin with an online prayer gathering at 8am. Resources for this day of prayer, as well as the prayer gathering link, will be made available on our website early in the week.

  • 6:30pm Good Friday service @ Samohi (live-streamed online)

“So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them.”    John 19:16-18   ESV

On Good Friday the Church remembers the suffering and death of Jesus. Please join us in the outdoor amphitheater at Samohi as we gather to sing, reflect, and listen.

Easter Sunday, April 4

  • 10am worship service @ samohi (live-streamed online)

“But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.’ Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing…”  – John 20:11-14   ESV

On Easter Sunday we will gather in the outdoor amphitheater at Samohi to celebrate the most important event in history: the resurrection of Jesus. We invite you to join us, and to share this invitation with family, friends, and neighbors.

Please remember that, on Easter Sunday, 100% of our offerings will be given to our Hope for LA and Global Mission partners. Our goal is raise $150,000 as a shared act of worship and as a shared act of commitment to the work of Jesus in the world.
