A grateful husband for forty-eight years to Marianne. He is a father of two daughters and a son, grandfather of three boys and four girls. He served for forty years as a Pastor, the last twenty-eight of those as Senior Pastor of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. He holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. John frequently speaks at conferences for churches and mission organizations, and has served on Covenant Seminary’s Board, Wheaton College’s Board of Visitors, as well as on the Board of the National Association of Evangelicals and World Evangelical Alliance’s North American Council.
John was seriously planning on becoming a much better fly fisherman in retirement, but a church in Los Angeles interrupted his plans. He also loves to hike the mountains, sail the high seas and of course, read.
