Frequently Asked Questions

Does the church belong to a denomination?

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA), which has been in existence 27 years and has over 1,200 churches all over the country.

How should I dress to church?

Some people like to dress up to go to church, while others like to dress more casually. It's up to you. Most people in our church dress in a "nice casual" manner. Feel free to dress as you feel most comfortable.

How long is the church service?

A typical service is under 90 minutes.

What is the music like?

Our music has an eclectic, contemporary feel. Our musicians have varied backgrounds—several play regularly with the L.A. Philharmonic, and others are professional session players. On any given Sunday you might hear music that is contemporary, soulful, traditional, or even bluegrass.

How would you describe the messages your pastor gives?

We believe you will find the sermons to be thoughtful, insightful, winsome, engaging, and perhaps even challenging.

What kinds of children's programs are offered?

We offer nursery and childcare during the service. We also have Bible school programs for children in different age groups.

What does this church believe?

See what we believe.

What is the "Lord's Supper?"

The Lord's Supper is a sacrament established by Jesus. In receiving bread and wine, we not only remember His death, but are nourished spiritually by His presence. All who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to share in this sacrament.

Where does the church stand politically?

We believe it is important for people to be involved with the political process but we, as a church, are politically neutral.

How can I learn more about God? I don't find conversations about religion very convincing.

Pacific Crossroads Church is committed to giving intellectually credible answers to people seeking the truth. We offer an environment where honest questions are encouraged.

Is it easy to get connected at your church?

We offer many opportunities to meet others and get involved. We offer social opportunities as well as community groups where people meet to study the Bible, make friends, and care for each other. This is where you can begin to experience acceptance and community.

Will I feel out of place at your church? I haven't lived a very moral life.

Pacific Crossroads believes that God's message of grace is for imperfect people only. That's us: broken, imperfect, and loved beyond our understanding. We show up not to be good or because we already are; we show up because we need to be here.

I used to go to church. I'm just turned off by organized religion. Been there, done that. Why would I want to go to church again?

We aim to be more than just "church as usual." We believe you will find the worship, message, and people to be a refreshing change from what you have experienced before. We are not promoting a religion; we are promoting the gospel (which means "the good news"). Religion makes nice people; the gospel makes new people. Religion reforms you on the outside; the gospel transforms you from inside out.

As a first-time visitor, will I feel pressured to join? Can I just visit with no obligation?

Our church is a safe place for people to visit and check out without any obligation.

I'm a spiritual person. I'm just not religious. For me, faith is a private matter. Why should I go to church? Isn't it enough to pray or meditate on my own?

The God we worship is triune in nature, which means He is three-in-one—three beings in a perfect and loving relationship with each other. We believe God has called us to emulate that loving and worshipful relationship. We do that through community. We believe that people who want to keep their faith private are missing out on something big.
